I've been having fun using Greek style yogurt and mixing in various spices and fruit to make it even more yummy. Today for breakfast I made cinnamon/nutmeg with a splash of vanilla and honey. I liked it and of course Anders scraped his bowl clean! Yesterday I mixed in blueberries and vanilla. I'm thinking of making a mint sauce from fresh mint leaves and mixing that in with a little honey. Any ideas for sprucing up Greek yogurt?

(Thank you for all of the yummy ideas!)

I love Greek Yogurt with Granola, honey, and fresh fruit...throw in some flax seed and/or wheat germ.

I have been known to but just about anything in to Greek style yogurt. My favorites are maple syrup with pecans, pesto, honey with chopped dried apricots, and cooked oatmeal (as in, "have a little oatmeal with your yogurt").

Bea likes hers with flax seed and wild honey.

I recently used it to top some curried lentils with caramelized onions, and that was DELICIOUS. Where do you all find affordable Greek yogurt? Or do you? We only have it at our fancy market, where it costs a small fortune.

(If you say Trader Joe's, I'll cry.)

We definitely use it as an all-purpose condiment, especially good dolloped onto soups (think black bean soup with avocado, cilantro, etc. on top.) I like it for a snack with various seeds-- sesame, pumpkin, sunflower-- and vanilla and chopped dried fruit. Or jam. Oh, dried coconut especially.
Gypsy-- ours IS from TJs, but a middle eastern market should be better option as well.

Isn't it nice to have so many foodies in the family? I find it at my favorite store, La Habra Ranch Market, where they have all the Middle Eastern stuff you could want. I costs about the same as the other yogurts.

Hi Gretchen,

Here is my favorite(I love it with chicken and fish):
Chopped red onion, chopped cilantro, Lime zest, a teaspoon or so of lime juice, salt, and about a teaspoon of red wine vinegar. Try it; you won't be disappointed.
